PORTAGE, MI -- Portage’s new community center for seniors is set to provide area residents with more amenities.

The new facility at a different location is more than three times the size of the previous center, providing 32,000 square feet of space for a range of activities.

MLive/Kalamazoo Gazette got an up-close look at the newly constructed Charles & Lynn Zhang Portage Community Senior Center last month. Watch the video to see an inside tour of the new facility.

The senior community center, 203 E. Centre Ave., has been expanded to increase the capacity and offer more amenities to the community.

Featuring a stage, athletic room, workout gym, small cafe and spacious multi-purpose room, Portage senior citizens will be able to enjoy a plethora of activities. New amenities include a fitness center, commercial kitchen, performance platform, cafe and two indoor pickleball courts.

Regularly scheduled programming is set to resume Monday, June 6 in the new facility.
